Why is it important to also measure inverter production?
For owners of household-scale small power plants (HMKE), it is natural to monitor the feedback to the grid. This value shows how much of the produced energy the house does not use immediately, but sends into the public utility grid.
But is measuring only the feedback really enough?
The answer: no. The feedback only shows the surplus, but tells nothing about the total production of your inverter. For example, it can happen that the house consumption is exactly equal to the instantaneous production — in this case the feedback is zero, but the production can still be significant.
A real example
We recently commissioned the ADA PZIOT-E02 device for a valued customer, equipped with native GreenHESS firmware. The installation is extremely simple:
Just set up the Wi-Fi network
In the admin interface, designate which phase the device connects to Then the ADA PZIOT-E02 automatically searches the network for the ADA P1 Meter and passes it the measured inverter performance data.
The ADA P1 Meter then ensures that these values — along with load import and export data — are uploaded in real-time to the okosvillanyora.hu cloud, where the user can monitor the system operation on a clear graphical interface.
Why is this useful?
Complete picture: You see all the produced energy, not just the part fed into the grid.
Consumption calculation: From import, export and inverter data, the house’s total instantaneous consumption can be accurately calculated.
Troubleshooting: If the inverter produces but there is no feedback and consumption is low, it may indicate a potential system fault.
Energy optimization:
It is easier to decide when to turn on bigger consumers (washing machine, boiler, air conditioning) to maximize self-consumption.
Summary
Efficient operation of HMKE systems requires measuring not only the feedback but also the total inverter production. Using the ADA PZIOT-E02 and ADA P1 Meter pair, all necessary data are automatically, reliably and in real-time available.
