DATOUBOSS 16 kWh Battery – ADA485 Integration

✎ GreenHESS Editorial Team ◉ 579 views

GreenHESS ADA485 compatibility has been expanded with another battery model! The integration of the DATOUBOSS DT-48314S, a 16.07 kWh energy storage battery, has been completed. Thanks to this integration, the battery now has its own dedicated monitoring interface on the HMKE.APP platform.

ADA485 communicates directly with the battery management system (BMS) via RS485. This allows users to access detailed battery operating data independently of the inverter.

Detailed Battery Monitoring with HMKE.APP

The GreenHESS monitoring platform provides much more than basic battery state-of-charge information. The system offers detailed insights into the operation and performance of the energy storage system.

Available data and features:

  • Battery state of charge (SOC, %)
  • Real-time power (kW) and current (A)
  • Battery pack voltage (V)
  • Charging and discharging energy (kWh)
  • Battery charging and discharging cycle count
  • Individual voltage monitoring of all 16 battery cells
  • Minimum and maximum cell voltages
  • Cell voltage difference
  • BMS temperature sensor readings
  • Historical charts and daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly statistics

Individual Cell Voltage and Temperature Monitoring

One of the most useful features of this integration is the ability to monitor the voltage of all 16 battery cells individually. The charts show how cell voltages change during charging and discharging processes.

The system separately displays the highest and lowest cell voltages, as well as the difference between them. Temperature readings from the BMS sensors can also be monitored through historical charts.

The HMKE.APP Interface

The monitoring dashboard supports both light and dark display modes.

Connecting ADA485 to the DATOUBOSS Battery

The DATOUBOSS DT-48314S battery is equipped with RS485 and CAN communication interfaces. The GreenHESS ADA485 integration uses the battery's RS485-1 communication port.

Required configuration:

  1. Use the RJ45 connector labeled RS485-1 on the battery for communication.
  2. Set all ADS DIP switches on the battery to the OFF position.
  3. Connect the ADA485 device using the appropriate RS485 wiring.
  4. Once ADA485 has been configured, communication with the battery BMS can begin.

Important: Although the RS485-1 connector uses an RJ45 socket, it is not an Ethernet network port. The correct RS485 pinout and wiring must be used.

Independent Battery Monitoring Without Inverter Communication

One of the key advantages of this integration is that HMKE.APP does not rely solely on battery information provided by the inverter.

ADA485 communicates directly with the battery management system, enabling detailed battery monitoring even when the inverter cannot provide individual cell voltages, temperature readings, or other advanced BMS information.

This is particularly useful for energy storage systems using inverters from different manufacturers, custom-built installations, and existing solar systems upgraded with battery storage.
