Not All P1 Meters Are Created Equal – The ADA P1 Meter Is Also Compatible with Hungarian Smart Meters

Recently, we have been receiving an increasing number of inquiries from users who are unsure whether the ADA P1 Meter is compatible with their smart electricity meters.

One reason for this uncertainty is the
official HomeWizard compatibility guide, which states that Sanxing meters operating in the former ELMŰ distribution network area are currently not supported.

HomeWizard – Official Compatibility Guide

It is important to clarify that this limitation applies specifically to HomeWizard's own device and does not mean that the P1 ports of these electricity meters are generally unusable.

Why Does the ADA P1 Meter Work?

P1 communication on smart electricity meters installed in Hungary is based on the DSMR standard. However, meters used by different distribution network operators may have varying data structures and configurations.

During the development of the ADA P1 Meter, we specifically took these Hungarian market characteristics into account.

As a result, our device is compatible with smart electricity meters equipped with P1 ports in Hungary, including Sanxing SX631 S34U18, SX601, Sagemcom, Holley, and Wasion models, even in areas formerly served by the ELMŰ distribution network.

This is also supported by E.ON's official technical documentation, which provides detailed information about the P1 communication interfaces of these meters.

Free Access to Your Measurement Data

The ADA P1 Meter does not require a mandatory cloud service. Measurement data is also accessible over the local Wi-Fi network through HTTP/JSON and MQTT connections.

This allows users to process and store their electricity consumption data on their own servers, Synology NAS devices, Home Assistant systems, or other data collection applications.

The only requirements are an accessible and active P1 port and a suitable Wi-Fi connection. If the P1 port has not been activated, users must request activation from their local distribution network operator.

Our primary goal in developing the ADA P1 Meter is to ensure that users in Hungary are not faced with unnecessary compatibility restrictions and can freely access, manage, and control their own electricity consumption data.
