New features have arrived in the GreenHESS system – update to version 1.8.5

We have been working on several important developments recently, so we have sent less feedback and information to our customers for a while. However, we are now pleased to announce that version 1.8.5 has arrived, which contains several significant new features.

Inverter integration with ADA P1 Meter

One of the most important new features is that the ADA P1 Meter is now able to access local network inverters in test operation and automatically collect their data.

Currently, we are working on supporting the following inverter types, and integration is already available for these:

  • Deye
  • Growatt
  • SMA
  • Fronius
  • Huawei
  • SolarEdge
  • SigEnergy

The way it works is that the ADA P1 Meter queries inverter data with a 10-second refresh rate and then forwards it along with its own measurement data to the cloud. A major advantage of this is that no additional settings are needed on the HMKE.APP platform: the system automatically recognizes the incoming data and creates the related displays.

What will you see in the HMKE.APP system?

Thanks to the new feature, the dashboard automatically creates cards and graphs related to the inverter, including:

  • daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly graphs,
  • instantaneous solar power production,
  • battery charge level, if supported by the inverter or system,
  • cumulative production data to date.

In addition, the inverter will also appear in the My devices menu, so the status of the solar system can be monitored in one place.

At the top of the dashboard, near the house icon, the new data will also be displayed, so not only the network consumption but also:

  • the instantaneous solar system production,
  • and the current household consumption

will also be clearly visible.

Important information about the Modbus TCP connection

Except for Fronius inverters, for most supported types it is necessary that the Modbus TCP connection on port 502 is enabled on the inverter's own administration interface.

Since this function is still operating in test mode, if you want these inverter data to appear in your HMKE system, please send a reply message to info@greenhess.com.

It is useful to provide in the email:

  • the exact model of the inverter,
  • and if available, also the local IP address of the inverter.

This greatly helps rapid configuration and verification of integration.

Especially useful for Home Assistant users

Good news for Home Assistant users is that production data from the inverter is also included in the ADA P1 Meter's JSON output which also refreshes every 10 seconds.

This means that for supported inverters, the main data of the solar system is available not only on the HMKE.APP interface but can also be easily processed and displayed from local systems, such as Home Assistant .

New solution for remote meter cases

Another important development offers a solution for situations where the meter is physically far from the home's Wi-Fi network, and therefore the ADA P1 Meter could not previously cooperate with the home's local network.

With the new system, now two ADA P1 Meters or P1 Bridges can exchange data with each other in real time, regardless of location.

Simple example of operation

If the meter is located at the street front or several hundred meters from the residence, an ADA P1 Meter with LTE SIM module can be used there, which works directly at the meter.

In the home, a single ADA P1 Bridge is sufficient, set up to synchronize the data of the street device.

In this setup:

  • the device in the home does not perform direct measurement,
  • but it receives data from the street ADA P1 Meter in real time,
  • so for the local system it behaves as if the electric meter itself is located inside the building.

This is especially useful in locations where the measuring point and the home or mechanical room are physically distant from each other.

Continuously under development

Version 1.8.5 marks an important milestone, but our development does not stop here. We are working on several new inverter integrations and further automation possibilities to make the GreenHESS system even clearer, more useful, and easier to use for our customers.
