PZIOT-E02 Power Meter – independent measurement, on the same interface as your electricity meter
Many of us like to see what’s happening around the electricity meter – not (only) out of suspicion, but simply because it feels good to understand our own system. In my case, inside the electricity meter cabinet, I can look at consumption from two perspectives:
ADA P1 Meter: reads the data measured by the electricity meter, so I see what the meter “officially” records.
PZIOT-E02: independently, as a separate device, it measures phase events and the instantaneous electrical characteristics.
The good news: both can be displayed simultaneously on the hmke.app interface, so I can view and compare the measurements on a single screen.
Why is the PZIOT-E02 useful alongside an electricity meter?
The PZIOT-E02 does not “replace” the utility provider’s meter but complements the picture. It typically comes in handy if you want to:
see more detailed, instantaneous data (current, voltage, power factor, power, etc.)
quickly review what happened on the phase (load changes, effects of switching on/off)
look at the actual consumption from another perspective
compare values measured by the electricity meter with data shown by an independent meter
Important: comparison alone is often reassuring. For example, my values are very close to each other, and it feels good to see the system “pointing in the same direction.”
“If there is a discrepancy, what does it mean?”
If someone notices a discrepancy between the two measurements, it is not automatically an error. There can be several everyday reasons, for example:
the measurement points differ (the electricity meter and PZIOT do not “grip” the system exactly at the same millimeter),
different sampling / averaging / time windows,
short, impulse-like effects of certain loads appear differently,
phase and network conditions, cosφ, harmonics, etc.
The PZIOT-E02 helps you see and understand better what is happening – and if something still seems questionable or a too large discrepancy is visible, one can proceed further with concrete data (e.g. with an electrician, expert, or consultation).
So whether you want to see it in Home Assistant or on hmke.app, it’s possible.
Who do we recommend it for?
those who like to see details and want to understand their consumption
those who have solar/HMKE systems and are looking for correlations (load–production–network)
those who want an independent, extra measurement point in their system
those who “just” want some peace of mind: it feels good if you see the same from multiple sources
Important!
The PZIOT-E02 is an informational measuring device for understanding and monitoring your own system. The basis for utility billing is always the data from the certified meter (electricity meter).
